Orlando, Florida- Miami's Katerina Stewart may need to get a second home in Orlando. Stewart went undefeated through a field of over 100 players vying for the USTA Pro Circuit title in Orlando. This was the 3rd time in 4 years she has captured the singles title win. This time over Grace Min, a strong player out of Atlanta who at one time was ranked in the WTA Top 100.
Min had looked invincible the whole tournament. The former Wimbledon Junior Champion and US Open Junior Champion eradicated her opponents by big scores. Some were even doubtful if Stewart could match up to the Mighty Min. But Stewart silenced all doubts in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.
Besides the $1600 payday, Stewart earned valuable WTA points which should move her up from her #163 ranking in the world.
It was another win for the city of Orlando having these talented pros in town for a week from 20 countries. Hats off to promoter Tom Sweitzer for pulling off another successful event and keeping pro tennis alive in O-Town.
