Dueling Dragons “cops and kids” dragon boating program is comprised of middle and high school teens and Orlando Police Department officers who team up to race competitively year-round. Founded in July 2011, Dueling Dragons is part of OPD’s continued pro-active efforts to prevent and reduce juvenile crime by engaging Orlando’s youth, in collaboration with the City’s Families, Parks and Recreation Department (FPR), in positive activities, providing mentorship and offering safe environments for them to learn and grow. Partnership programs between OPD, FPR, and Orlando youth have resulted in a 50% decrease in juvenile arrests City-wide.
